Dorian, mirror design by Iosa Ghini for Fiam Italia, has been awarded with the Good Design Award 2017, organized by the Chicago Athenaeum – Museum of Architecture and Design – in conjunction with the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies. The Good Design Award, the most internationally acclaimed design prize, is assigned to the most innovative and cutting-edge industrial, product, and graphic designs produced around the world.
For the 2017 edition, the jury selected 900 new products and projects from more than 46 countries all over the world. Iosa Ghini gets this recognition with Dorian, wall mirror in high temperature fused glass designed for Fiam.
“As if it was a drape dropped on a wall, it is a glass sheet that reclines once in contact with a heat source, to give life to a floating shape” this is how Massimo Iosa Ghini describes it. The frame, made of reflective glass, allows you to look in the mirror on any part of its surface, obtaining a deforming effect that breaks the flatness of the perfect central mirror. The subtle curvilinear variations produce a bustle of reflexes and controlled fluctuations inside a classical perimeter that frames the mirror.
The mirror is available in two different sizes: where the small one enriches, with its charm, spaces such as an entrance or a bathroom, the large one finds its natural habitat within dining rooms, bedrooms, and living rooms.
